About
Daily Wisdom World shares one short, positive passage a day from the world's spiritual and philosophical traditions, presented side by side with equal respect. We don't rank traditions, promote any faith, or cover politics.
Sourcing rules
- Every passage has an exact citation (chapter and verse, or book and author) and a link to a public source.
- We use public-domain translations: the King James Version, F. Max Müller's Dhammapada, James Legge's Tao Te Ching and Analects, Edwin Arnold's Bhagavad Gita, J. M. Rodwell's Qur'an, Casaubon's Marcus Aurelius, Higginson's Epictetus, Tagore's Kabir and Gitanjali, R. A. Nicholson's Rumi, Jacobi's Acaranga Sutra, Eastman's The Soul of the Indian, and Hebraic Literature (1901) for Talmud and Pirkei Avot. Short passages from the Sant Singh Khalsa translation of the Guru Granth Sahib and the Shoghi Effendi translation of The Hidden Words are brief, attributed quotations.
- Every public-domain passage was checked word for word against the full source text. Popular sayings we couldn't trace to a primary source (including many quotes misattributed to the Buddha, Rumi and others) are left out.
- Older translations keep their original wording, for example "charity" for love in the KJV.
